Website Redesign

It seems the time has come to redesign my website. The landing page, at least. I just couldn’t force myself to finish the old, partially-completed design. I had originally intended to scrap Wordpress and use Cutenews to combine my blog with the main page. I’ve since decided against that, however, largely due to stumbling accross Tim Van Damme’s web site. I think it’s a fantastic idea to have like a main page and keep the blog separate. New Site LayoutI think this could make the site as a whole more flexible and adaptable to any new ideas that pop into my brain.

Anyway, for the new design, I decided to stick with the black and gold anarcho-capitalist color theme, but I wanted something simpler. I’m starting to think that less is more when it comes to the main page of a personal website. My main inspiration comes from Jonas Pelzer’s site. I was so freaking impressed with it, I mean, the kid is 16 years old. Anyway, I didn’t want to just straight up copy it, but I took the basic idea. Main page with my name, click on a link to show a hidden layer containing beautifully formatted information, you get the idea. Light on the JavaScript, semi-light on the graphics, but I want to keep this baby fast so I went with GIFs to keep the file sizes down. The faster the better, etc..

As I expand my site, I’ll just give each section its own subdomain (e.g. mail.dall.in, dox.dall.in, genealogy.dall.in, and this blog).

More to come.
